37 LOYAL EMPLOYEES RECOGNIZED
By Mrs. Laniflor Adigue
If the Oscars has a Lifetime Achievement Award and Rock ‘N Roll has a Hall of Fame, St. Scholastica’s Academy Marikina has its Service Awards. The award is given to employees who have rendered their services and contributions to the school for at least five years.
The awarding is one of the highlights last February 9, the Feast of Day St. Scholastica anchoring on the theme, ‘St. Scholastica: A Model of Peace-Building through Active Listening’.
Garbed in their best attire, 37 employees walked the red carpet in the Annual Service Awards.
Directress Sister Roseve Balagat, OSB made a brief speech about transformation and change.
“An award comes in many forms, shapes and sizes. Not many people are considered heroes but you can be a hero in your own way, style or strategy. I want to see you grow in your own way,” Sister Roseve said.
After a short audio-video presentation that talked about the awardees’ personal standpoint and dreams in life, Directress Sister Roseve Balagat, OSB, Grade School Principal Sister Alexis Lamarozza, High School Principal Mrs. Amelia De Vera, Personnel Officer Mrs. Rebecca Muyrong and PTA President Mrs. Aileen Cruz went onstage for the awarding of plaque of appreciation.
Registrar Mrs. Nancy Tamkin and General Services Personnel Mr. Orlando Lao received a warm applause from the SSAM family for their 35 years of service (and still counting), to the Benedictine community.
Mrs. Tamkin, who is a former health teacher in the high school department, shared her greatest joys at SSAM.
“Masasabi kong greatest accomplishment ay yung magsilbing inspirasyon sa mga estudyante. An office staff told me na may student daw akong pumunta rito at nagsabi, ‘Si Ms. Tamkin ang dahilan kung bakit ako naging magna cum laude’. Truly, if you are dedicated to your work, you will see all the fruits of your hard labor,” Mrs. Tamkin narrated.
Mr. Lao’s passion in gardening made him stay at SSAM. He said that a person who lives out simplicity of lifestyle will always be happy and fulfilled.
Institutional Campus Minister Sister Lydia Villegas, OSB talked about the value of listening. Sister also expressed her appreciation to the awardees for their perseverance and dedication to their work.
High school teacher Mrs. Roselle Bariuan and grade school teacher Mrs. Ivy Claire Gautane hosted the special event.
