Share a
meal, it’s a deal

Excited
high school students and teachers lined up in queue in front
of the Home Economics room as they waited for their turn to
be served with a hot bowl of either champorado or arroz
caldo pegged at
twenty
pesos. This Share- a-Meal activity, proceeds of which will
go to the adopted communities, is sponsored by the
Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) area in
celebration of Nutrition Month last July.
To
intensify SSAM’s focus on mission and ministry, TLE
coordinator Mrs. Edith Fitero, together with the faculty and
students, jumpstarted the simple event by providing products
such as eggs, rice and canned goods to the typhoon victims
in Marikina City. These donations, which were packed in
boxes, would have helped a number of mothers and babies in
sustaining proper nutrition. Consequently, the high school
unit capped the event with the theme “Sa Wastong
Nutrisyon ni Mommy, Healthy si Baby”.
“We want the
students to be more aware of their lifestyle through giving
them enriching activities and interesting topics such as
choosing carefully the food that they eat, knowing how to
balance their diet and recognizing the importance of
maintaining proper nutrition especially to pregnant mothers,
and infants. And these were all done through classroom
activities, discussions and announcements over the PA
system,” Mrs. Fitero said.
The
students were tasked to make Asian-inspired posters
revolving around the same theme. Selected works were shown
in the gallery near the AVR.
