= Leadership Training = Shannon Adrielle B. Mataac Barangayette President
Last August 23, 2008, the long-awaited Leadership Training took place. Gathered were the young, but formidable leaders from different levels, ranging from Grade One class and club officers to Grade Six Barangayette officers. Lead by none other than Mrs. Domeyeg, the program ensued and different activities - fun, exciting and full of useful lessons – were done.
The activities are as follows: Getting To Know Myself Getting To Know Others Steps to Being Successful Leaders Attitudes and Qualities of a True Leader “Follow-the-Leader” Games And many more!
1. Getting to know one’s self. How can a typical leader guide and lend service to others s/he barely knows the name of when s/he doesn’t even know his/her own self? Strive to thoroughly and completely know your own self before you totally give your honest and loving service to others.
2. Getting to know those whom you want to serve. Try to befriend others. It would totally help you in meeting to their needs and expectations. It would also help you in boosting up your self-confidence and knowing their concerns and problems to be solved.
3. Steps to being a successful leader. Now this is a long one. There are many steps to being a successful leader. = One is gaining and boosting up your self-confidence. Try to get out of your shell and face the world with pride and sureness in yourself. It may be hard, with all the heavy and light problems, but I believe that everyone has enough courage to be out in the open and socialize with others. Besides, God is always there for us in times of need. We can depend on Him. = Another is completely placing your trust on the Lord. As I said in the other example, God is always there for us in times of need, even if it is just plain comfort and contentment in His presence, anything! He would still help and welcome us when we call for Him even though we have little time for Him. Remember, God would always and forever love us so we could depend on Him. = Being optimistic. Think positive and try to see the good side of things, not always the bad side. Being a pessimist would just trouble you more than it will help you. It will dampen your day and would severely affect your performance in school/work and your service for others. Just remember to hide your problems in the depths of your mind for analyzing in another time and pull off a big and bright smile for the sake of the others around you!
Those are just a few steps towards being a good and successful leader. Now, I would discuss about the attitudes and the qualities needed to be a true leader. All of the sections in the Grade School Department are practically them! Responsible, humble, kind, compassionate, industrious……
I would just like to add some things. I believe in the saying that in being a strong leader, you are the pillar of support of all the people you are leading and at the same time, serving. When they crumble under the pressure of problems, you must be there to keep them from falling, from giving up. You must not only act, but you must also be The Leader. Be sure that you can handle your own problems before you take on the problems of a thousand others.
I hope you all enjoyed and learned from my entry. I put all my heart into this just to share what I’ve learned and acquired throughout the years to aspiring leaders.
