Grade 3 SIP Part 1
August 30, 2016

The grade 3 pupils gleefully welcomed their SIP partners from the Marikina Shoe Industry Development Office (MASIDO) and its partner shoe makers. Little did the pupils know that City Mayor, Marcelino Teodoro, would also grace the event.  He encouraged the students to continue patronizing Marikina-made shoes. He also told them that the local government supports SSAM in providing quality education by taking the whole level for a Lakbay Aral in Marikina’s shoe-related tourist and historical destinations.

Mr. Noel Box, Department Head of MASIDO talked about the history of shoe making in the country’s Shoe Capital. He showed different types of shoes and their parts. The highlight of the program is the step-by-step demonstration of how a shoe is designed and manufactured. Local shoe manufacturing owners brought actual shoe materials which they put together. The students were amazed by the intricacy of shoe engineering. Towards the end of the program, an open forum cleared all students’ queries about proper care and durability of shoes.

Parent Section Representatives and SIP Parent Volunteers were also present during the event. They, too, learned and benefited from the forum.
