|The Medical-Dental Clinic of St. Scholastica’s Academy Marikina ,in partnership with DOH and the City Health Office successfully implemented the National Deworming Program last July 22, 2016. Its aim was to combat intestinal parasitism among school-aged children. A total of 1,019 grade school students and 1,686 high school students were given consent by their parents to take the deworming tablet. The procedure was done after recess on a room-to-room basis with the clinic staff and barangay health workers doing the rounds of the different classrooms. Students were lined up outside their classrooms and were observed while taking the medicine. Those who were not given the tablet due to certain activities were scheduled to have the tablet taken during their annual medical exam. Students who were absent during the program can still avail of the tablet at the clinic provided they have taken their meals during the day. The program generally went well with no major adverse events reported.|
