The Social Involvement Program of Grade 2 Level for three consecutive school years is with the street cleaners of Marikina Heights.  We have two parts of the said event. The first part was held last September 1, 2016, attended by Grade 2 pupils, teachers, PSRs and SIP volunteers. Part 2 will be held on January 26, 2017. SIP Part 1 is not just talks because it offers an opportunity for everybody to open their eyes, ears, mind and heart to the present social realities.

The Master of Ceremony of the said program was Ms. Charlotte de Leon. It was started with an opening prayer led by Charlize Elisha B. Francisco of 2 – Honest followed by an opening remarks given by Ms. Ma. Jenia Pearl Vega, where she mentioned how lucky are we to live in one of the cleanest cities in the country. Then, the floor was given to our dear guest, Mr. Carlos Pangilinan from City Environmental Office (CEMO). He presented the Solid Waste And Environmental Programs of Marikina City. Mr. Pangilinan discussed the good effect of reducing and recycling waste, The R’s of waste reduction, schedule of garbage collection and enforcement for improper waste disposal. He was with 3 street cleaners namely: Mr. Manuel Roxas, Mr. Semon Anzano III and Ms. Gloria Salonga, they have shared their experience how they work to maintain the cleanliness of our dear city.

Grade 2 pupils had a chance again to perform their community singing “I Can”. All of them were excited to showcase their simple presentation to make the guests happy. Our pupils had a chance also to ask their questions in the Open forum segment. Through this open forum, they became more interested to extend help to the street cleaners and had a better understanding of their role to take part in maintaining the cleanliness by simply supporting the “Munting Basura, Ibulsa Muna” and spreading what they have learned from the forum.

Mrs. Rachelle Camaya was called to give her closing remarks and warm gratitude to the guests. Parent Level Representative, Mrs. KJ Santos, Academic Coordinator for Primary Level, Mrs. Luzviminda Cañete, and Student Activities Coordinator, Mrs. Jennifer Medina were requested to give the Certificate of Appreciation and tokens to the guests.

To conclude the program was a closing prayer led by Jan Makenzie R. Abaca of 2 – Kind.

The SIP made the participants realize that somehow and in simple ways, we could make a difference and contribute in maintaining the cleanliness. It was a meaningful day of learning how to protect and care for the integrity of creation and by doing good deeds for other people.
