To further enhance their writing skills, the Young Scholastican Journalists (YSJ) had a learning forum with the Blue Heights members. The Blue Heights is the school paper organization of the high school department. The collaboration was held at the Reference Section of the Grade School Library last July 9, 2016.

The three High School editors namely, Jan Cuyco, Eunice Miña and Clare Pillos, along with moderator Mrs. Menere Nasiad, facilitated the seminar attended by 12 members of YSJ.

Blue Heights editor-in-chief Jan Cuyco discussed the roles of the members of the editorial board. She emphasized that each contributor must do her duties in order for the team to be productive. Alongside her talk was also the chance for the Little Blue Star members to hear out from their counterparts some practical tips and advices on how to work more systematically in order to publish a good paper.

Associate editor, Clare Pillos, gave the budding writers an introduction to news writing, the basics in journalism.

Senior High editor Eunice Miña, on the other hand, shared the guidelines in the creation of the school paper. She also gave a talk on editorial writing, and tested their writing skills in a brief workshop.

The three speakers were actually former YSJ members. Jan Cuyco became SY 2012-2013's editor-in-chief. Eunice Miña was an associate member in SY 2010-2011, and became the editor-in-chief the following school year. Clare Pillos also served as a news editor in her fifth grade and became an associate editor on her last year in the grade school department.

The YSJ members learned a handful of tips and wider knowledge on how to effectively work in producing a school newspaper after the seminar. Dominic Marasigan, the club illustrator and Sophia Cruz, a news writer, both said that they will use their learnings to give the Scholastican community a better newspaper.
